The Situation


A client we have worked with for many years needed help finding the right person to run their largest office. The individuals we had placed with the organization in the past were in leadership positions and responsible for the company’s growth so the partnership made sense for both of us.


Solution Implemented


The Rice Cohen International team set up an initial call with our client’s Chief Operating Officer to understand exactly what the ideal candidate looked like. As a result of this initial call the Rice Cohen Research team got to work immediately, extensively researching direct top competitors as well as companies with a similar business model, who currently have a sales leader based in NYC. After this the team began our proactive recruiting process: they networked with our contacts in the region and reached out via phone and email to the individuals the research team identified. All qualified candidates were then interviewed by our executive consultants who then presented a short list of 4 candidates to our client.


The Search Results


We presented the short list to the hiring manager who chose to conduct in-person interviews with all four. After those initial interviews the COO narrowed the list to three to speak with two of his peers. From there, those 3 executives narrowed it to two finalists who would spend a day in the office for meetings and to take an assessment. They extended an offer to their candidate of choice, Rice Cohen prepared that candidate for the counter offer they would be receiving from their current company, and the individual accepted our clients offer and turned down their counteroffer based on our coaching. Within 30 days of proactively recruiting in New York City, our client had a signed offer from their new Managing Director. That individual has since turned the office around and it performing better than it ever has.
